INCREDIBLE HULK writer
Greg
Pak, bothered by the number of good titles being cancelled
due to low
sales and publicity, has started the #READCOMICS
initiative.
Each Month, Pak and other creators will offer their picks
of what you
should be reading, and we will file these picks under "The
Expert
Says..." in our Staff Picks list below. Agree,
disagree, or want
to tell us what we should be reading? Drop us an

Dad introduced me to
BLOKUS and
it’s been my favorite
game since. The basic game is laying colorful
plastic tiles down on the
grid board with the goal of getting all your tiles
down while
preventing your opponent from doing so. It is super
easy to learn to
play, you can pick up strategy quickly, and it’s
still challenging no
matter how many times you play. You can literally
play it with all
ages, the youngest person I’ve played with was five
(they won). Also
the game is constructed of durable plastic so
sticky-finger
five-year-olds and cheesy-orange-cheetos-finger
grown-ups can play and
munch at the same time. Warning: this game is
addictive, you cant play
just one game. Expecially if you get beat by a
five-year-old and need
to reclaim your honor.

POWER GRID is a
great strategy board
game for 2-6 players, but it is best played with
4-6. It is a
favorite with the NOVA Jacks Gaming Group and is
played almost every
Saturday night. First the players choose a map
board to play
on. (A 2-sided map board of Germany and the US
comes with the
game plus there are expansion boards with other
countries that can be
purchased.) Throughout the game, the players
are trying to build
a connection of power stations on the board that are
powered by fuel
they store in their power plants. Each turn
consists of bidding
to buy power plants, purchasing fuel, building new
power stations, and
being paid for the stations that are powered.
The winner is the
one to power the most stations once the final
station has been
built. Power Grid takes about 2-3 hrs,
depending on how many
players you have. Though it takes a good deal
of strategy, it is
also a lot of fun!

Image Comics' MORIARTY is a
very well told tale of Sherlock Holmes' arch-nemesis
years after Holmes' death. Moriarty realizes
he is the center of a major government setup,
forcing him to not only save himself, but solve the
mystery BEFORE his enemies find him.
CAPTAIN AMERICA
is still Marvel's best comic, and it is just going
to get better when Chris Samnee takes over as
full-time artist when the book is renamed CAPTAIN
AMERICA AND BUCKY, shifting to a WW2 era focus.
For at least two more issues, DETECTIVE COMICS
is the best DC book out there, with writer Scott
Snyder teaming with artists Jock and Francesco
Francavilla to create the closest thing to pulp noir
you will find in the DCU.
RETURN OF THE DAPPER MEN author Jim McCann has taken
the Zombie movement and made it funny and engaging
with ZOMBIE
CHRISTMAS CARROL, featuring beautiful art
by David Baldeon.

One of my favorites
is NARUTO
(Anime DVD). It is about a
boy that is special and wants to grow up to be the
leader of his people.
