NOVA COMICS began as a customer service and community minded entity, and we strive to expand our network of like-minded community groups as we continue. Please email us to be included in our family of community partners, and have your events listed on our calendar. If you are new to NOVA COMICS, please check out these fine folks:
NOVA JACKS
Gaming Group
NOVA Comics and Games hosts the NOVA Jacks
Gaming Group on Saturday nights. The group plays
strategy board games and card games, many of which are
sold at the store. The store has a bookcase
loaded with games that are available for the group to
play. There is no cost to join in and you don't
need to bring any games, unless you have one you'd
like to share for the evening. You also don't
need to know anything about playing games - we will
teach you. There are generally about 15-20
people that attend each Saturday. Whenever a
game ends, new ones are chosen based upon how many
people are present to play at that time. People
start showing up between 6:30-7:00pm and the door is
open until 9:00pm, when it is locked to anyone except
gamers. There are drinks (soda and water), plus
chips and cookies or candy to purchase, but gamers are
also allowed to bring in their own food. Since I
lock the store, we stay as late as I feel like, which
has been VERY late some Saturdays. If you love
gaming as much as we do, or you have a desire to
learn, please join us on Saturday night!
DC Anime
Club
A Not-for-Profit
established in 2003 to introduce the Washington, DC

culture. The DC Anime Club provides a positive
and alternative activity for area youth by exposing
them to foreign culture and encouraging artistic
expression and creativity, as well as providing
opportunities for community participation and
leadership growth. Activities include screenings
of Anime and live-action films, Gaming, CosPlay, and
Yu-Gi-Oh tournaments.
DC ANIME CLUB: Web - Facebook - Twitter East
Coast Avengers (ECA)
The East Coast
Avengers are a chapter of the Avengers Initiative
Costuming Group, a cosplay group set in the Marvel
Universe, geared to the Avengers (All Marvel
characters are welcome). The ECA promotes
creating, owning, and wearing the costumes from the
Marvel Universe featured in films, comics, and
television. To capture the magic of these characters,
the goal is to portray an accurate presentation of the
character through your individual costume. We
recognize that this hobby centers around fun and
creativity, and therefore the ECA allows for the
creative modification of costumes within the confines
of decency (defined as being without profane or vulgar
features or statements and must be viewable by young
children). AICG and the ECA were founded to
provide a collective identity for costuming fans on
the east coast with similar interests, and put its
resources to good use through fund raising, charity
work, and volunteering.EAST COAST AVENGERS: Email - Facebook - The AICG on Facebook The JEDI
Guardians
The Guardians are a non-profit science
fiction reenactment group performing lightsaber duels
and Jedi-themed battles for charity. Speaking
engagements consist of motivational messages,
self-defense awareness, and wellness. We regularly
participate in charitable events, fundraisers and
humanitarian activities designed to promote peace and
healthy living.
